Vehicles in German City Found Smeared with Nazi Symbols in Human Blood, Police Confirm

Incident location Affected vehicle Area Law Enforcement
Officers mentioned they were alerted by a resident who discovered a vehicle in Hanau covered with reddish substance

Roughly fifty vehicles have been marked with what appears to be human blood in the German municipality of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, according to authorities.

Automobiles, building surfaces and mailboxes were vandalized, sometimes with Nazi symbols, they announced in a release.

Law enforcement report they were notified late on Wednesday, when a individual observed that a vehicle in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been covered with a reddish fluid.

The liquid had been drawn in the pattern of a Nazi symbol, they reported.

Law enforcement then located numerous other marked automobiles and house walls in the surrounding area.

Swastikas are illegal in Germany under legislation prohibiting the visible presentation of Nazi symbols.

Officials state preliminary tests show the fluid was probably blood from a person.

"At present there remains no indication as to its origin; officials are presently not informed of any physical harm in association with the incident," they stated.

City officials said they were trying "to solve the case" and have asked to the residents for details.

An important political figure said the vandalism left him stunned and had to be resolved rapidly.

"This incident strikes at the core of Hanau and revives the trauma of the right-wing violent incident in 2020," he wrote on online, recalling the killing of nine people by a gunman aiming at people of immigrant origin in five years prior.
